Running

I chatted with my sister last night on FB about running. She was my running buddy, sniffle sniffle, before she moved to NZ. We trained to run the Cambria Half Marathon back in 2001. She got sick and could not run at the last minute but she drove up and down Highway 1 cheering me on with the kids. Next big goal was the Long Beach FULL Marathon 2001. We trained and conquered the beast and I was so thankful for her support and encouragement. I hit the wall at mile 25 and if it was not for her I probably would not have finished. I had Kira in 2005 and ran the LB Half Marathon without really training at all. Then in 2008 my girlfriend and I did the LB Half again and I  ran it at a personal best 2:07:51, crazy!! Now it is a year and a half later and I am jonesing for a race.

I finally ran with the kids today down to Enzo's therapy. It was the first run with the new jogger. The kids loved it and I enjoyed it too. It was a three miles, there and back. I ran about 80% of the way there and then we had therapy and I ran the whole way home. Whoo Hoo! However, it was so windy on the way back. I was going full speed and barely moving. It felt so good to run. I was winded, sweaty, and free. As free as you can be with two kids in the middle of the day. I had forgot how much I need to run, for my sanity and for my health too.

I got the bug again, I am a runner and now all I need is a goal and accountability.
Here are my ideas either Long Beach Half Marathon which obviously I love and know well.
Or The City to Sea Half Marathon here on the Central Coast.
They are both in October and I have plenty of time to train either way.
I might lean toward the one here only because I know there are possibly some other girls running it too.
Well, either way I need to start running and getting my mileage up.
I am planning on running at least 3 if not 4 times a week along with my P90X.

SO my question to you is what are your goals whether it may be fitness or diet or whatever?
Could you use some accountability or just some encouragement?
Let me know here or on FB

Oh How I Love Mondays

No really I love Mondays. I work Friday and Saturday. Sundays are usually filled with church and family. So Mondays are just for me to catch up and rejuvenate in a sense.

I finally put all of our laundry away after having to refold it all. I cleaned up our room and that always feels good. I tutored my high school student. I had a nap with the kids. They both napped for two hours at the SAME time. I made a tasty Chicken Satay with veggies and rice. Yum. I bought stuff for Corned Beef and cabbage for tomorrow. I might even make green bagels or pancakes tomorrow.

This morning I ran with my friend at the beach and it felt so good to get out and exercise. I have not wanted to exercise but I am in dire need to exercise. I am at my heaviest ever (about 15 lbs over my realistic weight) without being pregnant, at least being pregnant you kind of have an excuse for extra weight. No this is plain laziness and pure apathy for any kind of good eating or exercise. So today I drank water like no tomorrow and ate really good. I think if I do not eat after 9:00p.m. it should help a lot. I definitely find myself snacking late night and that is never good.

My realistic weight is a weight that I can comfortably keep without starving myself or being too neurotic about everything I do. All of my clothes fit perfect without any binding but they are not falling off. If I just exercise on a regular basis I usually do not have a problem with my weight. But it is the regular basis that needs help.

I am going to put together a fitness schedule for my next race. I am planning on running the Half Marathon in October at Long Beach with my friend again. We want to shave off some serious time of our last race. This means serious training and discipline. I need it.

What do you do to get motivated to exercise?

Long Beach Half Marathon!!

All I am going to say is 2 hours 7 minutes and 51 seconds!!!!

Okay, maybe I will say more, like we kicked major butt. Elyse and I ran about a 9:40 minute mile.
Let me put it into perspective. When I first started running in last year, while pushing the kids I was running a 12 minute mile and last week pushing them I ran a 9:30 minute mile. My last few runs I was running about a 9 minute mile easy for about three to five miles. So you can imagine my extreme excitement to actually run a race and to have my personal best! I have ran two other half marathons and one marathon. The Cambria half was my first, back in January of 2001 I ran it in 2:32. I then ran my first Marathon in Long Beach in November 2001 with a time of 5:04. In 2005, seven months after having Kira, I ran the Long Beach half marathon with a time of about 2:36. Now I do not know my exact time as we were stuck in traffic and started about a half hour late :)

But to have birthed another child and to have trained half of the time pushing them, I think I pretty much rocked it. Elyse and I really pushed ourselves and ran it as a race. This is the first time I actually pushed myself running fast than any other time. I was aiming to run under 2:30 and as close to 2:00 as possible and I think 2:07 is fantastic!!

I Was Running

Today I ran with the kids from North beach to Calafia and back which is 4.52 miles. This is the first long run I have done with the kids. I did it in 55.24 minutes, just about a 12 minute mile. Pushing the kids, I am very happy about that time. Just last Thursday I ran 4.45 miles in 48.54 minutes. My goal is to run the Long Beach Half Marathon in October, that is 13.1 miles. I figure if I train by running and pushing the kids at a 11-12 minute mile then when I run without the kids I should be able to run about 9-10 minute mile. I would be stoked to run the half marathon under 2 1/2 hours and that would be my best time.
